There are more beaches at Newquay, 9 miles northwardsm and a sheltered deep beach in a bay at Crantock which belongs to the National Trust. A fee is required for the car park but it's probably worth it to be able to enjoy a secluded cove.

The Bowgie Inn near Crantock is worth a special mention for the sheer good value of its lunches. In 2011 they were providing excellent lunches such as a Huntsmans or jacket potato with crisp fresh salad for five pounds. There is parking at the inn for guests. A good number of walkers pass this way on the coastal path and the views are beautiful.

Further south is the small village of St Agnes, it's beach is devoted to surfing. A local surf school provides tuition and equipment hire.
