Hints and Tips on Cottage Holidays in Boskednan

Famed for its stone circle, the hamlet of Boskednan welcomes visitors who want to enjoy a relaxing country holiday away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The stone circle, which is partially restored, is currently known as the Nine Maidens, though there are in fact 11 stones in the circle, nine of which are standing and two of which have fallen. Due to the even spacing between the surviving stones and the size of the circle, it’s widely thought that there were originally 22 stones. To date, no one knows the exact purpose of the stone circle, though some believe it was created for ceremonial purposes.

This key attraction is within walking distance of Boskednan - it should take you about 20 minutes or so to reach it. A bit closer to the hamlet is Mên-an-Tol, a small formation of three granite stones thought to date back to the Neolithic/Stone Age periods.

Just 15 minutes away from the hamlet of Boskednan on the South Coast of Cornwall is the historic port town of Penzance, a gateway to the Isles of Scilly famed for its mild climate, many scenic beaches, eclectic history and abundance of shops.

The North Coast of the Penwith Heritage Coast is particularly well known for its extensive natural beauty, its large number of gorgeous sandy beaches and its rugged coastline, which is always popular with explorers, walkers and hikers. Like the South Coast, the North Coast is just 15 minutes away from Boskednan. In between the two coasts are many other small settlements like Boskednan that are well worth visiting.

So if you’re after a country cottage holiday in Cornwall, Boskednan should definitely be considered. While there are plenty of small settlements dotted throughout the Cornish countryside, Boskednan is unique in that it’s within walking distance of some very unique historical attractions.  We hope you find the perfect self-catering holiday accommodation for your Cornwall holiday in or near to Boskednan.
