Langford is a small hamlet 2 miles out of Maldon on the B1018 from Heybridge Basin and marina. Heybridge Basin is a popular spot to visit because of its picturesque canals and long boats. Walkers, day trippers and motorcyclists converge on Heybridge to walk the canal tow paths and enjoy lunch at the pubs.
The town of Maldon is a fascinating place to visit. It is an old town with plenty of history. take the local Ghost Tour to explore Maldon through the ages. Shrieks of pleasure emanate from the large permanent water splash park and next-door to it is the most enormous pirate themed sand pit with play equipment. A small fun fair provides additional amusement and from time to time there are bouncy castles and other activities. There are swans on the river and colourful boats bob up amd down all year round.
Maldon's attractions for holidaymakers, especially those with young children is Madison Heights, a large leisure centre with cavernous soft-play, snooker tables, ten pin bowling and cafe.
There are also plenty of places for nights out for adults. It is impossible to be bored during any holiday near Maldon because there is so much to do locally and so many places to visit within easy distance. Drive 20 minutes to South Woodham Ferrers for an open farm and small zoo, or go north to Colchester for one of the best zoos in the country and hands-on castle experience.
