Jaywick Sands is adjacent to Clacton on Sea, which is one of Tendring Peninsula's seaside resorts. Jaywick Sands is unpretentious with an unspoilt award-winning beach, leading to Clacton Beaches and on to Holland on Sea, providing miles of scenic, fresh-air walks. The long sandy beach is surprisingly quiet, perhaps because Jaywick has few facilities apart from a beach cafe and various eateries on the high street. There are public toilets but it may be preferable to use toilets in the cafes or at the supermarket. There is parking on the high street and in adjacent roads. A holiday cottage or chalet in Jaywick is the perfect base for exploring north Essex due to its proximity to Colchester, the countrys oldest recorded town, Harwich port and Constable Country with its beautiful countryside and villages of Dedham, Flatford and Stratford St Mary. The larger seaside resorts of Clacton, Frinton and Walton on the Naze are a short drive away.
