The locals dress up in period costume and entertain visitors with their antics, stalls and crafts. The beach at Shaldon is a mixture of sand and shingle and is a popular water sports centre for fishing, boating and sailing. Some of the best of the south Devon coastline can be seen at Shaldon. The village has its own zoo operated by the Shaldon Wildlife Trust. By concentrating on mainly smaller endangered animals the Trust and its volunteers have expanded their knowledge and expertise and provide a high quality of care to their adopted family.
