Find ideal self-catering holiday accommodation for your break in Greystoke. Greystoke is a Cumbrian village on the edge of the Lake District National Park, so it’s a scenic spot in which to holiday. It’s a charming village, with stone cottages from the 17th century, a village green and an ancient market cross. A café in the village particularly welcomes cyclists, offering puncture repair kits, oil, maps and other useful items!

St. Andrew’s is the parish church. Dating from the 13th century, it is noteworthy for its ancient stained glass and its contemporary sculptures. Baron Greystoke ordered the building of Greystoke Castle, the original building being castellated in the 14th century. It’s a magnificent structure set in 3,000 acres of grounds. The castle isn’t open for public viewing, but it’s available for events and as a wedding venue and also hosts off-road driving courses.

For the amenities of a market town, Penrith is only a few miles away. It’s an attractive town, and Penrith Castle offers a good day out. Constructed at the end of the 1300s, its strategic military position makes for a fascinating history. If you want to catch a film, there is a cinema in the town. Local history and archaeology is explored at Penrith Museum, housed in an Elizabethan building. Exhibits include a find of Roman pottery. The town’s Tourist Information Centre is also housed in this building.

Choices when it comes to self-catering holiday accommodation include log cabins, large country houses, country cottages and rural retreats. We hope you find an ideal place for you in or near to Greystoke.
