How about a holiday cottage in St Albans Hertfordshire?

Some parts of Hertfordshire such as Watford are busy and very close to London in many ways but further afield there are plenty areas of Hertfordshire with glorious countryside and more peaceful towns and villages.  St Albans is an attractive historical town which is good for shopping.  There is also an interesting roman site on the outskirts of St Albans with a Roman theatre and mosaics.  There is lots to see and do whilst enjoying a country cottage break.

Holiday cottages in Hertfordshire Villages

One of Hertfordshire's best attractions are the many pretty towns and villages where you can rent a cottage, house or apartment.  Some of the prettiest towns include Berkhamsted and Tring which are particularly pretty market towns in Hertfordshire which the Grand Union Canal runs through.  Ashridge forest is located a few miles from Berkhamsted and forms part of the Chiltern Hills area of outstanding natural beauty and is a location for a rural holiday let.  In Ashridge forest you may wish to cycle or walk or may even do a spot of deer spotting if you get there early enough.  The particularly pretty peaceful village of Aldbury complete with duck pond can be found at the base of Ashridge forest, stay here for a taste of village life on holiday.   Red kites have been reintroduced to Hertfordshire and can often be spotted around Tring and the surrounding countryside.

Rent a large house in Hertfordshire for celebrations

There are even large houses and mansions to rent for family celebrations and plenty of  large country houses to visit on days out. The historical houses of Hatfield House and Knebworth House are pleasant to visit during a self-catering holiday in Hertfordshire.  Knebworth House has a lot of attractions for children including a dinosaur trail and an adventure playground.  For those who love high energy activities there is an indoor Ski centre and an Aquasplash water park in Hemel Hempstead. That should keep children very happy on a family break.
