Set on the Blackdown Hills in east Devon, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is the village of Hemyock.  This village is located close to the border with Somerset and is just 5 miles from the Somerset town of Wellington. Hemyock lies on the River Culm, which flows through the village, creating an idyllic setting for a self-catering retreat.

Hemyock is the largest village on the Blackdown Hills and offers a great range of activities for visitors to choose from during their time here. The most obvious choice of activity is to get out and see the breath-taking landscapes. Cycling, hiking, walking, horse-riding and wildlife-watching are all excellent choices when it comes to exploring the surroundings which are truly unique to this part of the country.

Hemyock is a historical village with a number of special sights.  The village even has its own castle but visiting times are limited to Bank Holiday Mondays between Easter and September.  Whilst enjoying a cottage holiday here there are also plenty of places to visit nearby including National Trust Houses, Medieval Cathedrals and Castles in Tiverton and Tintagel. If you enjoy spending time amongst greenery you will want to visit the lovely Barrington Hill Nature Reserve.

Hemyock is packed with charm and character and is a great location for a cottage holiday in the West Country. Whether you opt to rent a holiday log cabin or a romantic cottage for two, click on the pictures shown below to find out further information about each property.
