Lowestoft is a Suffolk coastal town with a beautiful long and deep sandy beach hosting 2 piers each with pubs and amusement arcades on them. It is safe to swim in the sea and there are lifeguards on patrol throughout the summer months. Along the promenade there are plenty of places to eat such as cafes, restaurants, chip shops and tea rooms.
Lowestoft was once a thriving fishing harbour, and still has the fish dock and fish for sale. In the town there is a family bowling alley, Hippodrome bingo hall, swimming pool and plenty of shops. Near to the shops there are two muliti-storey car parks. For younger children there is a Play Park called Adventure Island which is open 7 days a week 10am till 6pm and also Raw Soccer http://www.rawsoccer.co.uk/ which is an indoor football complex where kids from age 2 can play under supervision of a trained instructor. Raw soccer is available for tournaments or just a bit of fun. (see website for details).
Lowestoft is in close proximity to theme park "Pleasurewood Hills" at Corton and "Africa Alive" Wild Life park at Kessingland.
Oulton Broad is close by with weekly power boat racing on Thursday and self drive boat hire is available here too. There is also a park by the water with childrens play area and places to eat.
Lowestoft is a short drive away from other seaside resorts such as Great Yarmouth, Southwold, Duneich and Walberswick (which is very good for crabbing). Norfolk and the Norfolk Broads are half an hour's drive away and provide variety to your self catering break around Lowestoft in north Suffolk.
