The town itself is made up of a thriving population of two thousand people. There is plenty to do on a cottage holiday in this colourful and picturesque town. As it is one of the tourist hotspots of the area, there are a lot of restaurants, cafes and pubs to choose from, most of which play traditional Irish music during the summer evenings. During the winter months, quizzes and card games take place within the cosy public houses, as Dingle has a great social scene. There is also a selection of arts and crafts shops for those with an artistic streak, and with views as stunning as those on offer in Dingle, it makes a lovely place in which to settle down and paint some of its sweeping landscapes.

During August, the Dingle Races takes place and in September, the exciting Regatta occurs as well as the International Dingle Film Festival. The most exciting festival in the town of Dingle, however, takes place on 26th December on Wren’s Day. This festival sees the whole settlement joining in and dressing up in traditional Irish costumes, spilling out into the streets with music and dance and having a generally merry old time! The town also hosts a fantastic fireworks display on New Year’s Eve which draws in large crowds because it is the only one of the time of year in Ireland.
