The Holiday Home: About Greenslades Rural Retreat, Exmoor National Park
Set in the heart of Exmoor is this four bedroom, three bathroom detached pet-friendly holiday cottage with a fenced back garden. The cottage stands in the village of Exford, in the very centre of the Exmoor National Park. This is a truly lovely cottage with touches of luxury throughout. The sitting room features a log burner set within a stone surround fireplace, wooden beams on the ceiling and sofas and chair arranged to benefit from the fire and the wide screen TV.
Another log burner adds warmth to the attractive dining room that leads from the smart contemporary kitchen. Good quality crockery and glassware makes dining in a treat. Downlighters give the kitchen and dining area a glamorous appearance. Cooking is by an electric range cooker and microwave. There is the essential fridge/freezer for holiday food and wine.
The four bedrooms consist of an en-suite master bedroom with an adaptable zip-link bed which can be super-king or twin, an en-suite king-size bedroom to sleep another two people, another double bedroom and a twin bedroom with folding beds. A family bathroom has a bath, WC and hand basin. A ground floor cloakroom offers a useful WC and wash basin near the living areas.
A barbecue and garden furniture offer a pleasant place in the garden to enjoy the peace and quiet of Exmoor, have lazy days grilling steaks and sausages and sampling some of the organic produce on sale locally. It is worth noting that the stars appear brighter in the night sky because of the absence of light pollution. Sit in the garden at night and make out the constellations or watch out for shooting stars.
Greenslades would be a fabulous country retreat for dog owning holidaymakers who love being out in the wilds, nature and walks. This area is rich in flora and fauna and a delight to nature lovers who are excited at the thought of spotting badgers, deer and birds of prey. Although there is the joy of the national park and curious Exmoor villages to visit, the coast is not very far and this cottage could offer guests a perfect rural retreat with days out on the beach.
