Book a traditional stone-built self-catering house or holiday cottage in Matlock and enjoy a weekend break or a complete week beside the Peak District. Many of these handsome stone properties were built in Victorian or Georgian times and exhibit high ceilings, plaster cornices and real fireplaces.
The large handsome Georgian and Victorian properties tend to be spread across three or four floors. This allows for plenty of bedrooms and living space. Bathrooms and especially en-suite bathrooms were added to raise these houses to today’s self-catering accommodation standards. Spacious rooms tend to be a feature and many have a large kitchen and dining room which is appreciated by large groups.
There are also smaller family-sized holiday lets and apartments to rent by the week and for weekend breaks in converted stone-built houses in Matlock. These holiday homes have the same advantages that the bigger ones in that room sizes are generous and noise insulation is good. Find a good quality place to stay in one of the quiet residential streets leading from the town centre so that you can enjoy peaceful nights and yet be within walking distance of the shops.
Matlock is very good as a base for self-catering holidays in the Peak District. It is a pleasant town with excellent amenities including a leisure complex with a swimming pool, cycle hire, railway station, a park with a miniature railway, rowing boats on a lake, café and children’s playground.
Matlock dogs welcome holiday lets
A number of the holiday lets shown in Matlock accept guests accompanied by a dog or two. There are a number of green spaces in Matlock where dogs may be walked. There is a good walk of about a mile and a half along a tree lined road to Matlock Bath. An extra charge may be requested per dog.
