Hamstead is a rural area on the north west coast of the island, east of Yarmouth. The nearest cottages and holiday accommodation are displayed. The western part of the Isle of Wight is less developed than the east and very good for cliff and country walks. The Needles is the best known landmark for the island and that area has been developed to provide several tourist attractions. Most people visiting the island on Holiday go over to take a look at the remains of the cliff jutting out to sea and the lighthouse at its end. The Needles Park offers a chair lift ride down to Alum Bay, there is a sweet factory that would appeal to most, a spincycle ride, a glass studio and the Old and New Battery.

The spectacular white cliffs are photogenic and appear in many holiday snaps. Signs warning about the danger of the cliffs are common.
