Hide away at this luxury secluded cottage where you can enjoy excellent onsite fishing for salmon and trout on the River Deveron on holiday.  Dog-friendly, your pooch can enjoy a break too.  This beautiful rural retreat comes with an interesting past, as it was originally built as a folly to historic Duff House, and is now a lovingly refurbished holiday home.  Just a stone’s throw away from our salmon and trout river fishing beat, this is an ideal holiday home for guests who love to fish.

Excellent On Site Fishing on the River Deveron

Book a stay at Craig Cottage and up to 4 guests can enjoy fishing on the Montcoffer beat on the river.  Fishing is included in the price of your stay for 2, and can be arranged for an additional 2 people at extra cost.  Our beat is just a short walk from the cottage, and covers an excellent part of the river for both brown trout, salmon and sea trout fishing.

For guests with dogs, there are superb dog walks from the doorstep.

This is a superb holiday home for keen wildlife watchers too with red squirrels, woodpeckers and pine marten sometimes spotted in the garden.

• Relax and unwind in the lounge with the comfy sofas and relax by the cosy wood burning stove (logs supplied).  For your entertainment there is a 37" Panasonic plasma wall hung tv, with Sky sports.
• Modern very well equipped kitchen with all Siemens appliances. An attractive glass table comfortably seats six.

Bedrooms

• There is 1 double bedroom on the ground floor
• 2 twin bedrooms upstairs with plenty storage, bedside tables, lamps and travel alarm clocks. 
• The bedrooms feature comfy beds with high quality mattresses with cosy duvets and throws. Each bedroom has a smart TV

Bathrooms

• There are 2 bathrooms both fully tiled and fitted to a good standard. The upstairs bathroom has a bath and separate shower and downstairs there is a shower only. All excellent quality towels are included.

Welcome Package

There will be a welcome pack waiting with coffee, tea, bread, milk, butter, sugar, bacon and some cleaning up essentials including fairy, bleach and dishwasher tablets

At the property is a south facing sheltered suntrap with spacious patio area, garden furniture and barbecue.  The garden overlooking the woods and countryside.  The property is just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Bridge of Alvah gorge, which is one of Scotland’s top rivers.

Craig Cottage enjoys a tranquil peaceful setting yet is well placed for exploring beautiful Aberdeenshire and further afield the Highlands of Scotland for days out.  

Popular activities in the local area include fishing, walking and golfing at the nearby Duff House Royal Golf Club. Enjoy exploring Castle country in Aberdeenshire, as well as the fascinating local whisky and coastal trail.

The cottage comes with 1 free rod for fishing our Montcoffer beat during February, March and April.

Please note that when you turn off the A97 at Deer Park Farm, the cottage is 1 mile down a private single hard track road.  Please drive very carefully as this road is part of the walk from Duff House out to the Bridge and because of the beauty of this spot it regularly has walkers, and as darkness comes so do the wildlife.  Deer regularly cross to drink at the river and badgers, foxes, rabbits among others cross at times so please drive very carefully
