A long open-plan beamed and panelled room has an oh so cosy atmosphere. A fire burns away happily inside the woodburning stove at the sitting end. This is where guests can relax, watch a little television and spend happy times on holiday. A pine dining table stands on a rug at the other end of the room. The window and door looks out to the entrance and gurgling brook beyond.  Although there is a woodburner, the property also has central heating to counteract any chill winds off of Lynmouth Bay.

The compact country-style fitted kitchen has an electric cooker, and an essential fridge/freezer and a washing machine in the utility room. The kitchen provides enough pots, pans and crockery to keep four people fed and content on holiday.  The kitchen photo shows an Aga but don’t worry, that is now purely decorative. Stock up with your favourite foods and if you bring back a takeaway for the evening, reheat it in the microwave. Good times are to be had here, just make sure that you have a few bottles of wine or beer or whatever you enjoy drinking. The nearest shops are just over half a mile away should you run out of anything although a pub garden is adjacent if you run out of alcohol or fancy a change of scene.

The two bedrooms are up the stairs and are both charming double rooms. A mezzanine area leads off of one of the bedrooms and offers a quiet place to sit and read or check emails. The cottage has Broadband Internet. Both bedrooms feature beams and exposed brickwork plus various curious wooden features. Both bedrooms share an attractive bathroom with wooden floor boards and panelling. It has a full-size bath, shower screen and heated towel rail. The accessories are made of wood.

Book this two bedroom country cottage to give yourself a break to look forward to this year. It would be lovely to explore the north Devon coast, to watch the surfers and sailors.  There are wonderful sea views along the coast and a special viewpoint at the Valley of the Rocks. Situated within Exmoor National Park, the surrounding area is very green with narrow winding country roads and little villages such as West Lyn, East Lyn and Hillsford Bridge to discover. The story of Lorna Doone was set around East Lyn and what is now called Lorna Doone Valley.

If you enjoy wandering around new places, Lynton is an interesting town to explore. Visit the Toy Museum, the Model Railway, encounter charming eateries and independent shops.
