Coniston in the beautiful Lake District National Park is a haven for those who love boating, cycling or walking. This pretty village is positioned amongst mountains near to Coniston Water, a large lake and is a very scenic spot. With its own tourist information centre, there is plenty of free information available on things to see and do locally. There are also a number of pubs and tea shops in the village where you can take it easy and enjoy a relaxing drink. Keen walkers and hikers may want to enjoy walking in the Lakeland Fells. There is also the option of spending time at Coniston Water where you can rent a rowing boat or if you prefer to play it safe, enjoy a walk or cycle along the paths that circle the lake. Also at Coniston Water, there is an excellent café by the water with large glass windows where you can enjoy a cup of tea and vistas of the lake. Another popular attraction at Coniston Water is the National Trust’s Gondola Yacht which is powered by steam. Booking is recommended for a trip on this yacht as it is a popular attraction which sometimes gets very booked up by wedding parties.
