Caernarfon - one of the most well known areas of North Wales - and for all the right reasons.

Welcome to some of the most dramatic landscapes the British Isles has to offer. Snowdon, at 3,650 feet, boasts the highest peak in England and Wales, but it’s not just the mountains that will take your breath away. It is also a hugely popular location for self-catering accommodation for walkers in north Wales.

What Caernarfon offers for Cottage Breaks

The coast is just as stunning with award winning beaches and sandy beaches spreading for miles.  Ideal for kids and dog walkers alike. There are plenty of family holiday cottages to choose from.

In this area you'll find some of the most awe inspiring castles on the planet. Caernarfon and Harlech are both listed as World Heritage Sites.  Caernarfon Castle was the location of the investiture of the Prince of Wales and still boasts a fine castle with much of it's fabric in tact.  You can even see the lead water pipes in the kitchen!

The small market town of Caernarfon is dominated by the castle in it's centre.  It has recently been redeveloped to offer continental style cafes with out door eating areas, souvenir shops, an excellent delicatessen selling local goodies and a host of quaint little coffee shops. And while you’re visiting, the Welsh Highland Railway is a trip not to be missed, and the bizarre architectural delights of Portmeirion are well worth seeing too.

There's no chance of you getting bored if you visit this area.  Apart from the many other tourist attractions such as slate museums & the Victorian town of Llandudno, there's a whole host of walks, water sports and activities to try out. We haven't even mentioned the shopping in the nearby city of Bangor or the whole host of extra things to do on the Isle of Anglesey!

For a great holiday with loads for everyone to do - old or young, choose a cottage base close to Caernarfon.

The small village of Bontnewydd is just 2 miles south of Caernarfon.  With a village pub, post office and convenience store it's just right for self-caterers.

A holiday in north Wales always surprises new visitors. The scenery, quiet roads and Welsh welcome ensure a satisying self catering break.

Whether you choose to book a holiday cottage in Caernarfon, an apartment, a lodge or another type of self-catering holiday accommodation, we hope you have your best holiday yet in Gwynedd.
