The very best time to take an English cottage holiday is the summer when the weather is at its finest.
There is no better place on earth than England in the summer. People may travel abroad in search of continuous sunshine but for many people, our moderate temperatures are so much more pleasant. There is rarely any need for air conditioning during a British summer and that is evident from the holiday accommodation on offer, very few holiday cottages have air conditioning. We do however, excel in pretty gardens, in patios with a barbecue, in outdoor swimming pools, spas, perhaps a tennis court or games room. Holidaymakers take pleasure in eating outside, in toasting a setting sun over an English landscape.
It could be said that English cottage holidays are geared up to savour our sunniest days and that those few rays of sunshine make England appear glorious. English country gardens put on their finest displays in the summer, our lawns are green and lush and ideal for picnics.
Rent an English country cottage and celebrate all the aspects of English life that we adore; country pubs with gardens, afternoon tea or even lavish cream teas. It is impossible not to stumble upon a cream tea if you have booked a West Country cottage holiday or Suffolk. Both of these parts of England welcome summer visitors intent on a few days at the beach, a few trips to English tourist attractions and a restful stay in their temporary summer abode.
As soon as the weather forecast promises hot sunny days, people head for the coast in droves. English seaside towns have generally smartened up in recent years; the esplanades are neat and tidy, eateries better quality and flower baskets are out in mass to welcome visitors. Book a cottage near any seaside town and you will see the higher standards on beaches and gardens. There are hundreds of things to do and see and summer attractions include carnivals, festivals and air shows.
Rural areas are not be outdone with shows, visit a country show, a farmers meet with point to point racing, a garden fete or a flower show during your annual summer break. England is still largely rural and has many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Take a holiday in the Cotswolds, to Shropshire or apple growing Worcestershire and Herefordshire to be entranced by heavenly scenery and villages.
