Self-catering holiday accommodation in the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire. The Peak District, apart from being a most pleasant and interesting part of rural England to visit, has the convenience of a central location and serves as a getaway for people living in England's densely populated central belt. Many of us like to get out into the country, to see the hills and fields full of sheep. A well-known feature of the Peak District are the dry stone walls that divide up the countryside into separate fields to retain the farm animals.Over the years, the tourist industy of the Peak District has grown creating all sorts of visitor attractions in addition to the natural ones. This landscape is strewn with rocks and boulders and eroded by underground streams to form caverns of a substantial size. Visitors over the decades have paid to visit the networks of caves and to admire Blue John stones that exist in this location only.

Cycling networks where families can ride their bicycles safely have spring up around the reservoirs and are connected with cycle paths of neighbouring counties. Lots of people visit not only for holidays but also for days out in the countryside or to visit a village such as Bakewell or a stately home and gardens. One of the nicest places to stay is in country cottages, perhaps on a farm surrounded by pretty views. At least by being on the spot, holidaymakers can enjoy the Peak District just by stepping out of their front door each morning. The Peak District national park is alive and thriving, it isn't the one to choose for a rugged wilderness because one soon passes the rough expanses of moorland and meets civilisation but it is a most pleasant introduction to British national parks and certainly always enjoyable to visit.
