Lots of people visit not only for holidays but also for days out in the countryside or to visit a village such as Bakewell or a stately home and gardens. One of the nicest places to stay is in country cottages, perhaps on a farm surrounded by pretty views. At least by being on the spot, holidaymakers can enjoy the Peak District just by stepping out of their front door each morning. The Peak District national park is alive and thriving, it isn't the one to choose for a rugged wilderness because one soon passes the rough expanses of moorland and meets civilisation but it is a most pleasant introduction to British national parks and certainly always enjoyable to visit.
