Yorkshire is an amazing part of northern England for holidays. Originally the largest county in England, it was divided into south, north, east and western parts. It is blessed with two national parks, the pretty Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorks Moors, both offering enormous green spaces for leisure and pleasure. Along its eastern coast are several very good seaside resorts; Scarborough for the 'fun of the fair' and the much loved Whitby - a family favourite.

The county teems with history and character. Limestone underlies much of the craggy landscape and stone was a popular building materials in times gone by. Solid villages with houses and cottages made of stone have stood resisting the elements for centuries. Fascinating to explore, with good welcoming pubs and surrounded by walks, a stay in Yorkshire has much to recommend it.
