Kilmelford is a small village surrounded by hills and pleasant countryside situated less than a mile from the shores of Loch Melfort.  For country cottages, farm-stays or rural retreats you may be considering a stay in or near Kilmelford.  The bustling coastal town of Oban is just 15 miles away.  Oban in Argyll and Bute has to be one of the West Coast of Scotland’s main holiday destinations.  Surrounded by beautiful countryside and with views over towards the Isle of Mull, Oban is a scenic coastal town with plenty of facilities.

One of Oban’s main attractions is its coastal location and the benefits of this.  Ferry trips operate from Oban to the Isle of Mull.  Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull is well worth a visit.  It is also possible to catch boat trips to the nearby islands of Iona and Staffa.  There are also a number of activities on offer that centre around the sea such as sea kayaking and wildlife watching boat trips.
