Find a holiday cottage, house, apartment or log cabin on the coast for a family self catering beach holiday where the children can amuse themselves in the sand and paddle whilst you relax. We are so fortunate in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales to be surrounded by fabulous beaches on every coast. There has to be a good sandy beach not too far from where you live.

Although the south of England tends to have hotter summers on average than other coasts, that distance may be too far to travel with young children. The beaches on the south coast also become extremely crowded at the first sign of a heatwave. Avoid the big seaside resorts if you want to avoid parking squabbles and queues, opt for the smaller more peaceful seaside towns. The ideal solution for people with children under school age is to go on holiday outside the peak price school holiday periods.
