Windsor in Berkshire is a great place for a country cottage holiday.  Windsor is a scenic town with royal connections.  Windsor’s top rated tourist attraction has to be Windsor castle with its wealth of history and surrounding parklands.  Queues can develop quickly for visiting the castle so do your research in advance before visiting, look up the opening hours and make sure you get there early.  Windsor is a very attractive town with an upmarket feel and through which a river flows.  There are a number of scenic spots where you can enjoy sitting out by the river and watching the boats go by.

About Windsor for Cottage Holidays

There is lots to see and do in Windsor during a self catering cottage stay.  There are a good range of shops and restaurants including a number of upmarket options.  Farmers markets are a monthly feature at Windsor along St Leonard’s Road and are usually on the first Saturday of each month.  Just across the river from Windsor is the historic town of Eton which is well worth a visit.  A visit to Eton School comes highly recommended but must be arranged in advance with the school and is only available at certain times of year.  For more information contact Eton school direct.  Windsor may appeal to those looking to take a family self catering break as Legoland is located within the town.

Windsor has a number of appealing green spaces where you can enjoy walks.  Also surrounding Windsor there are over 1000 acres of rural countryside cared for by the National Trust along with around 4800 acres belonging to the Crown Estate which means that Windsor is set amongst some glorious countryside.  Whether you book to stay in a self catering cottage or a country house have a wonderful time.

Book a Windsor cottage and look forward to discovering some of the best of Berkshire on holiday.
