Overton or Overton-on-Dee as it is often known as, by virtue of its location on the picturesque River Dee, is a rural village in Wrexham in north east Wales, close to the border with England. There are several other trails along the Llangollen Canal which are just wonderful for walks and ambles.
Chirk Castle is close by to Overton and this fascinating National Trust 12th century fort also has charming gardens to walk in after an afternoon of exploring the delights and history inside the walls of the castle. There are also plenty of small shops and pubs in and around the village which are excellent for sampling the local delicacies or getting to know the friendly villagers that reside in this beautiful part of the UK.
Overton-on-Dee has its own special charm, and although it is quiet, there is still plenty to do. It is pure paradise for those who love walking as there are endless trails to discover and take every day, and you can choose to hire a bicycle or do a spot of pony trekking if you wish as well.
