Roaming the Scottish Borders would be a lovely holiday for 2; stay in a self-catering Borders cottage surrounded by pleasant green lowlands. The Borders are a good introduction to Scottish breaks, not so far to travel for most and yet provide an insight into Scotland, its character and peoples. Rent a cottage in a Borders village and you will soon recognise that most towns have a similar square, that many houses are built of granite. Visit castles, go walking and enjoy just the two of you discovering the beauty of southern Scotland.
