Find country cottages to rent for a holiday in the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Almost touching the Lake District National Park, yet separated by the River Kent which empties into Morecambe Bay, is a small area of beautiful countryside of Arnside and Silverdale that has been awarded special status. This is a stunning place to rent a holiday home and makes an excellent centre for any visitors who plan to take day trips out to the southern Lakes, the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales.

There is a handful of villages surrounded by lovely countryside: Arnside, Beetham, Silverdale, The Yealands and Warton. All offer good places to stay and a base from which to cycle or walk whilst exploring this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

A holiday cottage in the village of Arnside may offer coastal views over Morecambe Bay. The town also has a promenade for evening strolls and cafes where holidaymakers can sip a drink and people watch.

The ancient village of Beetham features old limestone cottages, some of which have been converted into holiday accommodation. This may suit tourists who appreciate historic places, a few cobbled streets, an old cornmill and the chance to climb the Fairy Steps and make a wish.

A holiday home in Silverdale may be just what you are looking for. There are walks in Eaves Wood, a golf course and RSPB Leighton Moss for a spot of bird watching. The village also has a railway station so that you can arrive on holiday by train.

The Yealands lie to the east of this beautiful area and are a couple of ancient villages with a Quaker past. Stone buildings are dotted about narrow tree edged country roads. Among these are big handsome houses that could accommodate a large group of people. Climb Peter Lane, that travels upwards, to have superb views over the countryside; everything looks so fresh and green. Watch out for horse riders and cyclists in this and other narrow country roads.

Another good village to stay in, is Warton in the south east of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Main Street is lined with terraced houses and shops.
