One of Great Hatfield’s landmarks to discover whilst on a self-catering break is St. Helen’s Well, a holy ancient spring dedicated to St. Helen who made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Families that like to stay active can walk or cycle along the disused railway line, which stretches from Hull to Hornsea. If you have younger children and want an entertaining trip out, there is a nearby soft play centre called Neptune’s Kingdom. This play area, some three miles away, has a maritime theme and consists of chutes, slides, ball play and a climbing wall. For a large tourist attraction, the seaside town of Hornsea is only about four miles from Great Hatfield. It’s a great day out, with a sand and shingle beach as well as a wide promenade.
