Self-catering country cottages in Cumbria - the Lake District

Cumbria and the Lake District a , Mecca for walkers with acres of unspoilt hills and lakes in the north west of England.

The Langdale Valleys of Great and Little Langdale, lie to the west of Ambleside, in the heart of the National Park.  Visitors have walked its green hillsides and climbed the Langdale Pikes of Harrison Stickle and Pike of Stickle for countless decades, and keep returning to do it all again.   The scenery is dramatic with sharp crags and sparkling waterfalls.  Scafell Pike - the highest peak in England provides constant challenges for climbers through the years.

There are too many walks for people of all abilities to mention but there is plenty of variety for everyone. You can also wander through to explore other nearby valleys such as Grasmere, Borrowdale, Eskdale and Wasdale.

And after walking, you can enjoy an evening with a drink or a meal at one of the local pubs and discuss the day's events with the locals or fellow travellers, and dwell on the peaceful and beautiful countryside surrounding you.
