Barnfield is a lovely and luxurious Devon 17th Century Longhouse that has been beautifully restored to provide a stylish, warm and comfortable holiday cottage for 8-10 guests for long holidays or short breaks on the fringes of Exmoor in North Devon.
This south-facing cottage contains four bedrooms including a ground floor room with zip and link beds and an en suite wetroom with WC. On the ground floor there are a number of living rooms including a lounge with a large inglenook fireplace with warming woodburner, smart TV and DVD. One of the sofas converts to a double sofa-bed. The spacious and well-equipped kitchen diner has a pine table for 8. A separate dining room with original flagstone floor and another pine table for 10 leads off the kitchen.
A step down from the kitchen leads to a terracotta floor-tiled utility room. This has a separate wet room with power shower, basin, WC and heated towel rail. A second door off the utility room leads to the ground floor bedroom with zip and link beds and French windows offering level access to the BBQ terrace. Finally, another door leads into the games room, a large converted stable with original oak beamed ceiling and plenty of space for chilling out, having an X-box, piano, table football and lovely comfortable sofas. The ground floor bedroom and games room both have underfloor heating. Wi-Fi reaches most rooms in the house.
Upstairs are 3 bedrooms; a spacious master bedroom with king-size bed and delightful rural views, complete with an en suite with power shower, basin and heated towel rail. The other two bedrooms comprise a double bedroom and a twin room with full-sized bunk beds. A newly refurbished family bathroom with bath (with shower, WC, basin and heated towel rail) is also on the first floor.
There are two patios, one with BBQ and table/chairs seating 8-10 guests, and a large drive with parking space for 3 (4 at a squeeze) cars.
The house is particularly child and pet friendly with facilities for both. For infants, in addition to a travel cot and high chair, there are plug protectors, a stairgate, fireguard, a changing mat, baby monitor, night-light, child cutlery and crockery.
For pet owners, up to two dogs are welcome (more by agreement). Facilities include throws for sofas, a collar tag with our contact phone numbers, a secure garden, dog bowls and details of pet friendly beaches.
