Towards the east of Northamptonshire is the large village of Woodford which makes an excellent settlement in which to rent self-catering accommodation for a cottage break with friends and family. The village is essentially divided into two sections, with the lower part being based along the banks of the River Nene, and the upper area just besides the Nene Valley. Home to Woodford House, a 19th century mansion, a parish church and a couple of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, Woodford is a delightful place that is home to friendly people, and it is ideally located to explore other parts of Northamptonshire. The town of Kettering is just 9 miles from Woodford and the picturesque Stanwick Lakes are 6 miles away which both make great day trips.
