Lower Benefield is a small village towards the north east of the county of Northamptonshire and can be found in the picturesque setting on the banks of a trickling stream. Home to a village hall, friendly residents, and a couple of shops and places to eat and drink in both Upper and Lower Benefield, this village is a delightful area in which to rent self-catering accommodation for a cottage holiday in the heart of England.
The village is located on the outskirts of the town of Corby which is just 6.5 miles away from Lower Benefield, and makes a fantastic place to visit if you and your loved ones are looking to see a more lively part of Northamptonshire. Still surrounded by beautiful backdrops, Corby is home to an array of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as the Corby Cube - a wonderful theatre, and a serene boating lake. Visiting this vibrant town makes a great day trip and contrast from peaceful Lower Benefield.
Close to Lower Benefield is the 18th century Biggin Hall, a historical structure that was the birth place of Miles Joseph Berkeley, one of the founders of the pathology of plants. Also in the parish are the ruins of Benefield Castle, which dates back to an incredible 1208. Sadly, not much remains today except for the moated platform.
Lower Benefield is great to take fresh country walks in and around, or you could go cycling or enjoy a romantic picnic outdoors. There are lots of great cottages to stay in in the area, for a perfect Northamptonshire holiday.
