Located on the picturesque banks of the River Nene is the village of Irthlingborough in Northamptonshire, which is a thriving and bustling place in which to rent self-catering accommodation with friends and family as there is a lot to see and do here. Known as a town to some residents as it is home to over 6000 people, Irthlingborough still retains its charm and history and features a parish church of St Peter, a high street with a couple of pubs and shops, as well as a wonderful nature reserve.

Irthlingborough Lakes and Meadows is located just next to the village and is a splendid place to take relaxing strolls and walks by. This stunning nature reserve is a large stretch of flooded gravel pits and grazing marsh – a fantastic wetland for a large array of wildlife and different species of birds. Spotting the different wildlife here makes a great activity if you and your loved ones enjoy being surrounded by complete peace and serenity.
Also within the settlement of Irthlingborough, just two miles away, are the wonderful Stanwick Lakes in the Nene Valley. This is a great place to take the whole family to, as children will love drifting along on a hired boat across the waters, going horse riding and playing in the adventure playground, and there is even a café to get a quick bite to eat at lunch.

Irthlingborough is a lovely place in Northamptonshire in which to rent a cottage, where you can relax in front of the TV in the evening with a good home cooked meal and retreat to your comfortable bed after a day of exploring. You and your family will come to feel like one of the villagers and the only problem is, is that you may find it hard to leave!
