The lovely village of Geddington can be found in Northamptonshire, and is a delightful place to reside in when going on a self-catering cottage holiday with loved ones. There is quite a lot to see and do here, including visiting the three pubs and shopping in any of the quaint stores in the village centre. History lovers will be interested in the Eleanor Cross monument that is one of the best-preserved in the country. Dating from 1294, these crosses were raised in memory of King Edward I’s late wife, Eleanor of Castile, and there were originally 12 of them, although sadly only three remain. Seeing one of the three surviving crosses, however, is exciting due to the fascinating history that comes with this monument.

Another historical structure to see in Geddington is the medieval bridge which crosses the meandering River Ise in the centre of the settlement. This bridge dates from an incredible 1250 and has five arches. Strolling through the village is a great way to spend an afternoon with friends and family, and walking across the bridge is a must when in Geddington.

With a village hall and a couple of churches, Geddington has a wonderful sense of community and is well located to explore other parts of Northamptonshire. The settlement is only 5 miles from Corby and 4 miles from Kettering, both of which are vibrant towns with an array of bars, restaurants and cafes, and make great day trips from Geddington.
