Book a cottage holiday near Porthcurno, a vilage which lies on the coast in the west of Cornwall, south east of Land's End. Formidable granite cliffs and outcrops is broken up by a triangle of exquisite golden sand bay; Porthcurno Beach - secluded and unspoilt. Concrete walkways lead down from the car park above.

The Minack Theatre stands on the cliff tops to the west. Visit to see the steep terraced gardens where succulents fourish.

Walk the coastal paths for good views. Spot the Tater Du Lighthouse to the east and if you go inland you may just come across the ancient and mysterious standing stone circle known as the 'Merry Maidens'.

This part of Cornwall is less crowded and busy during the summer because it takes longer to drive here for most.
