Chichester is interesting to visit. It has a fine cathedral with impressive vaulting and a magnificent font of polished polyphant stone and beaten copper created by John Skelton in 1983. There's a good pedestrianised high street shopping centre. Historic Chichester Harbour, about 4 miles out of Chichester itself is worth a visit. The canal, vamped up with flower beds, a simple tea room, outdoor seating, and boating, is quite ordinary, but fine if you enjoy a stroll. The treasures in this area lie in the numerous small villages round about, with picturesque cottages, leafy lanes, glorious countryside, country pubs, and old historic churches.
