Amazing snow sculpture in the Chiltern valley

If you live in the Chiltern Hills or were enjoying a cottage break in the Chiltern Valley this weekend then you may have been lucky enough to come across this snow sculpture from Dom Norris in the attractive market town of Tring.  Let’s hope that this beautiful work of art doesn’t melt away too soon.

Snow sculpture in Chiltern Hills
We hope that if you’ve got a self catering break booked that you manage to make the most of it and enjoy yourself despite the cold weather.  Sledging, walking and cuddling up together can still be great fun come rain or shine.

August is a great month for cottage breaks with festivals and events galore throughout the UK.  Whether you love music festivals, food fairs or craft fairs, there is lots going on in the UK in the month of August.  What’s more, the weather is forecast to be drier than normal with temperatures just about average for the period, so hopefully no need to pack your brolly!  See our last minute and special offer pages for deals on cottages for August.

Summer concerts throughout the UK

Summer is now officially here and one great British tradition is the outdoor summer concert.  If you are taking a short cottage break this summer why not look up what concerts are on in the local area.  There are shows held al fresco throughout the UK in the summer months with music ranging from jazz to classical to rock.  It can be great fun to take a picnic blanket, pack a picnic, some good wine and enjoy special times with friends on a summers night.  Some of these outdoor events are held in fabulous locations such as the grounds of impressive large country houses and be a great chance to spend some time in the beautiful British countryside.  Do book early, these events are understandably popular.
