Saltash is a town located in the south east of Cornwall in the West Country, lying just across the River Tamar from Plymouth. Described as the ‘Gateway to Cornwall’ because of its proximity to Devon, Saltash boasts plenty of interesting heritage and history as well as great things to see and do. Trematon Castle and Trematon Manor, a Georgian house, are well worth a visit. One of the first sites you will see as you enter Saltash over the bridge is the Union Inn, a flamboyantly painted pub with a Union Jack mural and painted façade.  If you’re looking to explore the wonderful surrounding countryside Saltash is the ideal location for visitors to the Tamar Valley. There is also a local heritage trail and of course great access to much of Cornwall and Devon as well as all the visitor opportunities in Plymouth.
