There are a number of fine, well preserved villages and towns in Suffolk that owe their beauty to the wealth generated by the wool trade in medieval times. A large number of the buildings in the appealing villages of Lavenham, Long Melford, Clare and Hadleigh were built by wealthy wool merchants and these villages are completely charming places to spend time. In the Suffolk towns enjoy stopping off at one of the many pretty tea shops or cafes and browsing in the boutique style shops. The villages of Lavenham, Long Melford, Clare and Hadleigh really are something special, so preserved are these villages that you feel as if you have stepped back in time. Both of these attractive seaside towns are located within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths area of outstanding natural beauty. Woodbridge, a pretty riverside town is also within this beautiful area and Lowestoft in the north of Suffolk is known for its attractive beaches.
