Self catering holiday cottages in Thorpeness, Suffolk, England
Thorpeness is located just 2 miles from the picturesque seaside town of Aldeburgh and is in an excellent location for discovering some of the best of the Suffolk coastline on a cottage holiday. Located within the Suffolk Coast and Heath Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this coastal village is extremely pretty and is essentially a collection of cottages nestled amongst greenery with the added benefit of being by the coast. Thorpeness also has its own quiet shingle beach.
Notably, in this pretty village, is a Grade II listed windmill, built in 1803, located close to the amazing ‘House in the Clouds’, an impressive looking former water tower which has now been converted in to unusual self-catering holiday accommodation. Thorpeness also benefits from a boating lake which is open during the summer months. Hire a rowing boat and enjoy sharing the lake with the swans!
This lovely little village enjoys a fantastic location for discovering some of the best of Suffolk’s attractions. Nearby is the nature reserve of Minsmere, the small village of Snape with its pretty development of independent shops by the river at Snape Maltings and the National Trust’s Sutton Hoo.
We hope that you’ve found our information on Thorpeness inspiring and that you have a fantastic holiday in Suffolk. Whether you opt for a coastal cottage or a historical cottage stay, have the very best time.
