Formerly the working forge of the village blacksmith, this pretty building has recently been tastefully converted into a unique holiday home for up to five guests. Thought to date from the 16th Century, it retains many original features, including exposed beams and the smithy's massive 'hearth' or fireplace, now housing a Clearview wood-burning stove.

All of the accommodation at the Forge is arranged on the one floor and the accommodation is cosy and very comfortable throughout. You can really relax at this charming home from home. There is a lovely lounge with exposed wooden beams, comfy sofas (one of which is a sofa bed), TV and a warming woodburning stove. The kitchen is well equipped and complete with a dining area. There is also a family bathroom complete with bath, walk-in shower, basin and WC. The double bedroom features a comfy king-size bed along with an en-suite loo.

Things to see and do in the local area:

Lydbury North has a shop, part-time post office, Norman church, riding stables and a Real Ale pub. On the outskirts, the former home of Clive of India, Walcot Hall, has extensive grounds open to the public.

Nearby is Bishop's Castle, a charming old market town with a variety of shops, cafes, pubs and amenities, a library, museum and a leisure centre.  The town holds a carnival in July and a Michaelmas Fair in September.  National Trust properties a short drive away include Powys Castle, Berrington Hall, Croft Castle, Attingham Hall and Carding Mill Valley. Bury Ditches Iron Age hill fort and Houseman's 'quietest places under the sun' - Clunton, Clungunford, Clunbury and Clun - are all easily accessible.

For foodies, nearby Ludlow is a must! Award-winning Food Centre, produce market, various food, drink and historical festivals, and excellent Christmas and Spring Fayre in the Castle grounds. Craven Arms offers Mickey Miller's Play Barn, the Land of Lost Content museum, historic Stokesay Castle and TV 'star' Acton Scott Historic Working Farm.

For those who love wildlife watching, the Forge is surrounded by beautiful countryside and there are ample opportunities to enjoy walking, cycling, mountain biking and bird watching locally. Coarse fishing is possible at nearby Walcot Lakes and there are three long distance walks that can be joined locally; The Shropshire Way, Offa's Dyke Path and the Jack Mytton Way.

We are sure you will enjoy your stay at The Forge, discovering some of Shropshire's many attractions and truly spectacular countryside. We look forward to welcoming you.

Well behaved small dogs welcome by arrangement.

This is a non smoking property.
