Hereford is the nearest main town for shopping, numerous eateries and bars, an Odeon cinema, theatre, leisure centre and swimming pool. The stunning Cathedral in the centre of the town is home to the Mappa Mundi and one of only four of the original Magna Carta documents. Also nearby is the market town of Ross-on-Wye, it's smaller but charming and well worth a visit. You are not short of attractions to visit in the wider area. Spend a day by the river in Symonds Yat, there's a butterfly zoo, crazy golf and a maze, or have a great day out in the Forest of Dean at magical Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves, Perrygrove Railway, the International Centre for Birds of Prey or the Sculpture Trail and GoApe at Beechenhurst Lodge. To occupy the smallest people in your party Raglan Farm Park and Newbridge Farm Park are both very popular days out with families. If you like exploring places of historical interest you are never far from a castle in this area! The Three Castles - Skenfrith, Whitecastle and Grosmont - can all be reached in under 30 mins. The Castles at Raglan, Goodrich, Chepstow and Eastnor are also well worth a visit. And the exceptional Cistercian Abbey in Tintern on the banks of the Rive Wye is a sight to behold.
