Self-catering cottage holidays in and around Nottingham

Nottingham is a lively city with good night life.  The city centre is busy  until the small hours of the morning at weekends.  People here like to party.

Nottingham used to be famous for its lace making industry and beautiful women.  The lace making industry has now almost  disappeared, along with coal mining.  The manner of the locals is generally warm and friendly and there are many opportunities for leisure pursuits in water parks, on rivers, in country parks and Sherwood Forest.  The legend of Robin Hood is kept alive and well by the tourist industry.   The Sherriff of Nottingham's castle can still be visited in the city.

Nottinghamshire itself offers a pleasant stay.  The surrounding towns and villages still tend to have outdoor markets, including farmer's markets.  Shopping is much better value here than in many other parts of Britain.  As long as you have a car, it's also well situated for day trips to many tourist attractions such as Alton Towers, Matlock and Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.
