Find self-catering holiday cottages, apartments, large country houses, pine lodges and other holiday accommodation for your visit to Glastonbury, Somerset, England. Accommodation shown will be either in Glastonbury or nearby within 7 miles in Somerset.

The largest greenfield festival in the world may have taken its name from the town, but Glastonbury, close to the village of Pilton where the festival is held, is a quiet and quaint settlement set within beautiful rolling countryside on the Somerset Levels that is ideal for a relaxing self-catering break with friends and family.

There are several historical buildings to visit in Glastonbury, including the Tribunal which was once a medieval merchant’s house in the 15th century and is now home to the Glastonbury Lake Village Museum. This Grade I listed building houses Iron Age artefacts and is great to visit for the afternoon. Another museum to visit in Glastonbury that is housed within a historical structure is the Somerset Rural Life Museum which has exhibitions and displays on the agricultural and social history of Somerset, as well as local craftsmanship in the settlement. The museum can be found within a 14th century tithe barn that was once owned by Glastonbury Abbey and there is a shop and tea room on site as well as talks on farming that are held regularly with fun activities for the whole family.

Nature lovers should explore the Somerset Levels and Moors, as well as the Brue Valley Living Landscape managed by the Somerset Wildlife Trust which is home to the picturesque Ham Wall, a National Nature Reserve. There is also the hill of Glastonbury Tor and the pretty Whitelake River.

Less than one mile from Glastonbury across the River Brue is the slightly larger town of Street, home of the Clark’s shoe company and countless shops and restaurants to sample. Glastonbury itself has shops and pubs, and it is great for a self-catering holiday due to the charming cottages dotted around here, where you can unwind and relax after a weekend or discovering the delights of this lovely Somerset town.
