You could visit the Olive Grove Nurseries, just down the road from the settlement, and this is a lovely plant centre which displays a wonderful collection of olive trees, palm trees and Mediterranean plants which are all housed on a 6-acre site made to look like a beautiful Italian plaza. These plants are for sale along with pots and statues, and a visit here makes a great day out if you wish to brighten up your garden!
Ashton is home to a gorgeous thatched roof pub, The Chequered Skipper, friendly people and beautiful buildings, all set in picturesque scenery on the meandering river. It is only ¾ of a mile from the ancient market town of Oundle, with a wonderful farmer’s market and lots of shops and pubs, and is another great place to visit when residing in Ashton.
