The south of England tends to be busy with lots of people heading for the beach on warm days, but try going further north for secluded and unspoilt beaches where you don't have to fight for your patch of sand, perhaps Wales, Northumberland or Yorkshire. Some of the beaches in Scotland and Ireland are almost deserted and offer grassy dune backed sandy beaches and lovely views where mountains meet the sea.
