Hot tubs are intended for adult use only and even then there are health restrictions. Pregnant ladies should not use them, nor people with heart problems. Alcohol and large communal hot tubs are not a good idea either. Holidaymakers are often requested to sign a disclaimer when renting a holiday home with a hot tub although there really is little need if people behave sensibly.

Relaxing in the warm massaging waters of a hot tub can be most soothing and beats meeting people down at the local pub because it reduces inhibitions. Hot tubs are rather like Marmite – people either love them or hate them. There are swim bars in swimming pools abroad and they always take the precaution of serving drinks in plastic cups so that there is no chance of broken glass.

The chances are that a hot tub with a cottage holiday is part of a leisure centre or a private one on the verandah, and the weather of Warwickshire is not that suitable for lengthy periods semi-naked indoors or out.
