Large Country Houses and Mansions for Weddings and ReceptionsAnyone who has got married recently will appreciate the difficulties involved in finding just the right venue for a wedding reception. You may just be looking for a suitable place which can supply a certain quality of catering and service or self-catering accommodation for your guests and a large hall where you can organise your own catering. Attractive grounds with enough space for a marquee may be another requirement. Or, a pretty setting for photographs. A self-catering venue is excellent for the smaller wedding. Usually only about 22-30 can be accommodated in a large country house or mansion but it is always possible to find additional accommodation in nearby holiday cottages, B&Bs or hotels. You will most likely have to marry in a local church or registry office and hold the reception in a large country house or mansion although certain houses are licensed for wedding ceremonies. Christmas Hall sleeps up to 20 people in eight bedrooms is situated in the centre of the popular and attractive village of Bildeston overlooking the market square. The house has a civil wedding license. Sought after stretch of Suffolk countryside which includes historic villages such as Chelsworth, Lavenham, Monks Eleigh and Kersey. Christmas Hall is a listed grade II house of special architectural and historical interest and is believed to date back to the early nineteenth century. The house is the former village rectory and now provides spacious comfortable accommodation with many fine original Georgian features. The ground floor provides a large kitchen, utility room, study, and three large reception rooms. The House is uniquely situated in its own mature gardens yet only 100 meters from Clifden town centre. The Drawing room is the main room in the House, adorned with paintings and antique furnishings. The gracious room is made intimate by its large roaring turf fire around which friendships are made and stories are told as visitors relax and drink tea or read a book in the evenings. The Old Rectory in Dorset - weddings very welcome
Spectacular Georgian Rectory, sleeps 25. Marry in Scotland Scotland is always great for weddings. Years ago when the age of getting married without parental consent in England used to be 21, lovers would frequently elope to Gretna Green, just over the border and marry. Scotland holds other benefits for weddings; there are numerous pretty country churches, you can hire a piper to pipe the guests into the church, anyone with Scottish connections is entitled to wear a kilt, the reception and accommodation for your guests will be much cheaper than in many parts of England, plus it's just so romantic. There is a pupose built basement/dance studio for a party, a sitting room with an open fire and it really doesn't matter how much noise your party makes in this secluded location!
