A short break does you the world of good at any time of year. Do something different, explore a new part of the country, be a tourist for a long weekend, or simply escape! Most cottages are available for short breaks during the low season  - usually from mid October until March, although some cottages offer short breaks all year round.  The minimum period for a short break also varies from one night to three. Places to Go Cumbria is always popular for a short break at any time of year.  Walkers tend to be hardy types. A Friday change day means that you can book a long weekend at any time of the year in the spacious Fell House in Sedbergh, Cumbria (sleeps up to 14). Alternatively if your "party" is a lot smaller, either a couple or a small family, you can choose a good value long weekend break in The Flat at Fell House. Good walking, pubs and all essentials on your doorstep.York has its own special attractions with the walled city and the 'Shambles' with its quaint olde worlde shoppes.  It's a great place for a weekend away with loads to see and do. 

Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath are also good for interesting city trips. Self-catering cottages, just for 2, with whirlpool bath - close to the city of Bathshort breaks near Bath - for couples. Nestled in peaceful countryside surroundings Coombe Barn holiday cottages are only ten minutes from the centre of Bath. On a working sheep farm in the picturesque village of Kelston these recently converted barns combine a traditional feel with modern comforts.   The three single story units each sleep two people. Whirlpool baths. There are barbeque facilities and garden furniture is provided from which you can sit back and admire the spectacular views. There is a traditional west country pub just ten minutes walk from the cottages.  The area is great for walking and the Cotswold Way can be accessed via footpaths to the top of the farm.  Short breaks welcome.
