Dorset The Old Rectory

A very fine Grade II* Georgian Rectory.   It is set in grounds of about one and a half acres with large lawns and flower gardens to the east and south which are suitable for croquet and knockabout tennis games. Beyond the gardens is a beautiful valley with views to the sea cliffs and downlands.  The house overlooks the very pretty village of Symondsbury, quaintly rustic, with its parish church, village school and thatched pub and cottages.  The entire area is designated as being of outstanding natural beauty with the local Chesil bank now classed as a World Heritage site - the Jurassic Coast.  It is ideal for long walks or a relaxed seaside holiday. It is about a mile and a half from the sea and there are a variety of beaches to choose from ranging from sandy beaches at Weymouth and Lyme Regis to small coves at Eype, Seatown and Burton Bradstock.  Bridport, the nearest town is a mile and a half away and has large street markets twice a week of fruit and vegetables, antiques and bric-a-brac.  Bridport Leisure Centre is well equipped for indoor swimming, squash, badminton, weight training etc. and there are golf, horseriding, sailing and diving facilities within easy reach. There is a wide choice of restaurants and good pubs including one in Symondsbury only one hundred metres from the house. Spectacular Georgian Rectory, sleeps 25. It comprises a tiny Georgian kitchen overlooking a beautifully crumbling courtyard, a billiard room-cum-library, dining room, drawing room with open marble fireplace. The furnishings are eclectic and occasionally eccentric (stuffed birds, grand piano, French boat beds)and the decor is relaxed and understated, verging on shabby-chic with an authentic time-warped atmosphere.

Located in the small hamlet on the river Ilse, Ashford Old Farm and the Barn, allows you to either enjoy the stunning gardens, or explore the glorious countryside and numerous historic sites located nearby. Across the neighbouring field is the River Ilse, home for otters, kingfishers, heron, wild ducks, dragonflies and fish from pike to minnow. Walks from the house can provide a huge variety in scenery, plants and wildlife.For those who would like some activity clay pigeon shooting, riding, fishing, polo, racing and walking are all available nearby.

Sussex Holme Street House

Holme Street House is a picturesque Grade 2 listed Georgian farmhouse, set in 10 acres of land. It is well equipped and beautifully furnished, having been our family home. The house is well stocked with family games and toys, and a large and varied selection of books for our visitors' use. It is peaceful and secluded, with views to the front over its own pastureland, and to the side and rear over delightful gardens. The tended gardens are a particular feature of the property, and extend to over 2 acres. They contain lawns, several different sitting areas, herb and vegetable gardens, orchard, Wendyhouse, and outdoor heated swimming pool (May - Sept approx) and changing room area. The pool is in its own separate walled area which can be closed off for safety. The field, sometimes grazed by sheep, can be walked in and leads to a small lake which contains carp and roach - you are welcome to fish, but will need to bring your own rods. The village of Pulborough is a 15 minute walk along the lane or through the field, and has excellent local shops. There are also 2 supermarkets within a 5 minute drive.

Holme Street House is a picturesque Grade 2 listed 18th Century Georgian farmhouse set in a secluded location in 10 acres of grounds. It has 4 bedrooms, and ample space downstairs including a family room with double sofa bed, so would suit 2 families holidaying together. Baby grand piano in sitting room. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool (May - Sept) for exclusive use of occupants, and 2 acres of beautiful tended gardens. It is just a short drive from the South Downs and the south coast, with all its varied attractions.
