Chipping Campden

The town of Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire

The Cotswold Way starts or ends in Chipping Campden depending on which end you begin at. The town was built on the wealth generated by the medieval wool trade and controlled by members of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Most of the ancient buildings are impressive and tell their own story of that period of growth - few are small, and Chipping Campden has one of the finest Cotswold wool churches built from donations by wealthy merchants who wanted to be remembered for posterity.  The town continues to have numerous craftspeople,  fine art galleries to browse in, coffee shop and good restaurants.

Open for visits from the 27th Mar - 3rd October, except Thursdays and Fridays.

Chipping Campden Joke:

A family from abroad touring the Cotswolds were amazed at the number of towns that contain the word Chipping, such as Chipping Campden, Chipping Norton and the lengthy village of Loose Chippings which seemed to extend for miles.
